Best pollen allergy apps for iPhone
We make one of these, so read this with that in mind. What follows is not a ranking with Respira at the top: it is what each app is genuinely best at, taken from their own App Store listings on 2026-09-03, including the places where the others are the better answer.
The short answer
- Longest US track record: Allergy Plus by Pollen.com. Two decades of US allergy forecasting behind it and around 22,900 ratings. Its listing states it is for the continental US only.
- Predicting how you will feel: ZYRTEC AllergyCast. It turns your logged symptoms into a personalised daily severity prediction, which none of the others here do.
- Air quality: IQAir AirVisual, and not close. Over 500,000 locations in 100+ countries, historical data and 3D maps. Pollen is not its focus.
- Pollen outside the US, and a diary you can hand to a doctor: Respira. Eight countries, eleven US species, an exportable symptom diary, and Home and Lock Screen widgets. It is also the newest here, with no US ratings yet.
The apps
Allergy Plus by Pollen.com
The app of Pollen.com, a US allergy-forecasting site that has been running for around two decades. It is the most established name in this list for pollen specifically, and its US forecast history is longer than anyone else's here.
Free. 4.8 from about 22,900 ratings (US App Store, 2026-09-03). Full comparison with Respira
ZYRTEC AllergyCast
A pharmaceutical brand's allergy app. Its distinguishing feature is a personalised symptom-severity prediction: you log how you feel, and it forecasts how bad your day is likely to be, getting more specific to you over time.
Free. 4.2 from about 550 ratings (US App Store, 2026-09-03). Full comparison with Respira
IQAir AirVisual
An air-quality app first, from a company whose core business is air-quality monitoring hardware and data. It covers over 500,000 locations across more than 100 countries, with historical data, 7-day forecasts and 3D pollution maps.
Free. 4.8 from about 44,700 ratings (US App Store, 2026-09-03). Full comparison with Respira
Respira
A pollen and air-quality app covering twelve countries. In the United States it reports the eleven species published by the Google Pollen API, including ragweed and oak, with air quality on the EPA scale; in Europe it uses the Copernicus CAMS model, enriched with national monitoring networks in Spain, Italy and Germany. It keeps a symptom, severity and medication diary you can export as a PDF, and shows levels on Home and Lock Screen widgets.
Free, with an optional Pro subscription. 4.9 from 14 ratings (Spanish App Store); not yet rated in the US.
Where Respira is not the right answer
If you want an app to tell you how bad your own symptoms are likely to be tomorrow, Respira does not do that: it reports measured and forecast pollen, and leaves the interpretation to you. AllergyCast is built around exactly that prediction.
If air quality rather than pollen is your reason for installing anything, AirVisual's coverage and history are far deeper than what Respira shows.
And if a large, settled US user base is what makes you trust an app, Respira does not have one yet. It launched in the United States in August 2026 and has no US ratings so far.
